Abracs Grinding and Cutting Discs - What You Need to Know

The range of discs we stock are suitable for use on mild steel, iron, stone/building materials, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminium and foundy materials.

Abracs class their discs three star (***) and four star (****) categories to help you choose the right one for the job you're doing. On top of that the company uses a simple colour-coding to denote the type of material the disc is intended to work on:

  • Metal
  • Stone
  • INOX
  • Aluminium
  • Cast Iron/Foundry

Printed on each disc is a grade, for example, A30S-BF, as seen above. This gives you all the info you need on the material the disc is made of, its hardness and the nature of the band.

A30S-BF translates into:

  • Aluminium Oxide
  • 30 grit (the higher the number the finer the grade)
  • S indicates the hardness of the disc
  • BF refers to the bond, in this case "reinforced bond"

In addition to this, you'll se the expiry date embossed on the centre ring. This gives you the needed info on whether the disc is still safe to use or not.

Compared to standard discs, these generate very low burring, again ideal for mild or stainless steel. And they're fast, safe to use at RPMs up to 13,300.
