Power tools are getting smaller and lighter. But surely building a grinder designed to run of a mere 10.8v lithium-ion battery is crazy? Well, that's exactly what Bosch has done in the company's new 76mm mini grinder.

To start off, watch our exclusive demo video on Toolstop TV.

As Eric explains in our video, some applications call for a grinder that'll perform well in confined spaces, applications that don't particularly require the grunt offered by a typical cordless tool.

Via the 19,500rpm - and when the correct 76mm disc is fitted, it'll ably cope with cutting cable channels, threaded bars (as seen in our video), tiles, copper, aluminium and plastic pipes, and parquet flooring, to list just a few examples.

A key - and perhaps obvious - benefit of the GWS108VLIN is the amazingly small size.

Of course, it has a brushless motor, and this allows for a diminutive body measuring just 202mm in length, standing at a mere 105mm tall. This certainly adds to how useful such a grinder is, and the ergonomics are fantastic as a result; great control even in tight spaces.

Safety-wise, Bosch has fitted it with a rapid disc brake which stops the motor in less than 1 second when the grinder's powered off. The guard is fully adjustable tool-free and can be moved into the perfect position for whatever application you're undertaking.

In the L-Boxx inlay you'll find 3 cutting and grinding discs supplied, but loads of alternatives are available from Bosch and other manufacturers even though 76mm seems awfully small for a grinder disc!

Swapping out discs is a breeze thanks to the new spindle lock design (M5 spindle) and the supplied Allen key.

Powering this wee tool is Bosch's reliable 10.8v batteries, and as it's available "body-only", ie. without a battery, all you need to do is use the packs loaded into your existing Bosch tools. It'll even take the newer 4Ah flat bottomed 10.8v packs, giving you even more run-time.

If you're already a devotee of Bosch's 10.8v battery platform, this could - and should - be a great addition to your kit, particularly if you work in tight spaces regularly and need a tool that's safe and capable at grinding and cutting.
