Metabo KSU 250 Mobile Work Stand - a Power Tool Spy Exclusive
Posted by Mark Hunter - November 24, 2011
Portability is becoming more and more of a key feature for many power tool users.
To be able to quickly and efficiently move your tools from one site to another is a no-brainer, and Metabo certainly seem to be taking this seriously. Given that their slogan is "work. don't play"it makes complete sense that they've developed a brand new mobile work stand to partner with theirs - and other brands of - top-notch saws to work, and work efficiently and quickly.
We've got a Power Tool Spy exclusive as we reveal to you the Metabo KSU 250 mobile stand for mitre saws. Check out our exclusive video demo and preview.
Metabo aren't the first savvy power tool manufacturer to recognise the market for mobility; there are others from DeWalt, Makita and Bosch. And as you'd expect, each has its own unique selling points.
So, what makes the Metabo KSU mobile stand special?
For starters, the supplied double supported extensions are going to provide you with an ample 2.5 metres of workspace. The stand itself can bear a load of 250kg on the centre area, but the stand itself weighs in at only 36kg.
This means you've got a highly adaptable, strong but portable work stand.
And what about the saws you can fit on it?
Metabo are marketing the KSU 250 as a universal machine carrier. That means you'll be able to use the stand with your Bosch saw, for example, and you'll be able to fit it to the stand without any special tools. And once your saw is mounted onto the stand, you can leave it there, even when you fold up at the end of the day. Which is ideal for quick transportation back to the van; one trip is all you'll need to do as the saw will still be fitted to the stand!
It goes without saying that the KSU 250 is tailor made for Metabo's own range of mitre saws and is the ideal partner for any of their KGS mitre saws.
Flexibility is also a key selling point.
You can extend the support arms up to 2.5m wide, but also use the stand when it's folded flat. That's ideal for when you're cutting and laying flooring, for example. Then, once you're finished working, you can fold the table up and position it against the wall to save space.
So, it's another Power Spy Exclusive, it's another great product from Metabo and it's another opportunity to tell us what you think.
