Another year has passed and the world of power tools has advanced leaps and bounds since Toolstop's last Power Tool of the Year nominees were rolled out. Once again we're giving you guys, the users and abusers of power tools, to select from our elite list of tools to choose your number 1 product of the year.
We've seen, again, increased battery capacities, smarter charging technology and an improvement in the robustness and durability in the tools you have in your hands each and every day. The innovation has pushed the barriers, giving you longer runtimes on your cordless tools, better ergonomics and tools that'll give you a fantastic return on your hard earned cash's investment.
As is our annual custom in the Toolstop office, we've deliberated and argued over the tools you guys have nominated for consideration in our shortlist, and we're grateful for the time, effort, passion and loyalty you've shown to your favourite tools and manufacturers.
And from our debate we've chosen 5 power tools for you to cast the final vote on.
Only one tool can receive the Toolstop Oscar in 2014, so this is your opportunity to make sure your favourite wins it. The closing date for your vote is 12th December 2014!
Our previous winners are:
2010 - WINNER of the Power Tool Oscar: Bosch GOP 10.8V0Li
2011 - WINNER of the Power Tool Oscar: DeWALT DCD985L2
2012 - WINNER of the Power Tool Oscar: Ridgid CA-300 Inspection Camera
2013 - WINNER of the Power Tool Oscar: DeWALT DCN690M2 18V Li-ion Brushless Framing Nailer
As you can see, DeWALT has won the Oscar twice. But will they make it a hat-trick? Only you can decide...
So, without further ado, here's our nominations for the Power Tool of the Year 2014.
This is a great little combi-drill from Bosch, a power tool they do particularly well. However, this made into into our nominations due to the new wireless charging system that's showcased with it. The first of it's kind, it'll save you time at work and help your batteries and tools last much longer.
We've made all the arguments for this on our blog post, which you can read via the button below, plus as you can see we've got a YouTube demo for you to check out before you decide to vote for it as your choice of Power Tool of the Year 2014.
If you're a Bosch fan, or just love the new wireless charging tech, make it your choice for power tool of the year by voting for it now!
Makita launched two new jigsaws this year that are worth noting, both or which feature brushless motors. From the two, we've chosen the traditional bow handled version over the body grip one. However, both are fantastic, featuring longer runtimes from the motor, and we've got them packaged up with two 4Ah 18v batteries, although they'll take Makita's new 5Ah packs too!
Makita's added some nice improvements to the DJV182 over its predecessors, in addition to the new motor. Things like a better, more durable dust extraction port, tool-less blade change and the new trigger switch with lock-on button.
We cover all of the reasons why we love this new jigsaw in our blog post, which you can read via the button below. And as always, we've got an exclusive demo video on Toolstop TV.
So, if you're a Makita fan, this should be your vote for Power Tool of the Year 2014; vote now!
DeWALT, as we've mentioned, are already two-time winners of our Power Tool Oscar. And with this fantastic oscillating multi-tool, could they make it three?
A brushless motor coupled with superb ergonomics and nifty features like a depth-stop, dual grip positions for the switch, and up to 22,000 oscillations per minute, makes this a real contender. We know you guys love it based on some of the feedback we've seen on our blog and YouTube channel.
As with all our entries this year, we've detailed all the reasons why this is a great power tool on our blog, via the button below, along with an exclusive Toolstop TV demo video.
DeWALT fans will certainly be happy to give the DCS355M2 their vote for the 2014 Power Tool of the Year, so vote now.
There are lots of reasons why this compact, powerful cordless circular saw from Hitachi has made it onto our list of nominees. We know loads of you are Hitachi fans for a start, but it really is a great little saw.
From the slim-line blade to the fact that you can use your existing 4Ah and 5Ah 18v Hitachi batteries on it, plus multi-plex protection circuit, the C18DSL has loads going for it, and we've already argued that it's a brilliant addition to any Hitachi cordless power tool user's kit.
Our blog post, via the button below, lists 5 top reasons to own one, and we've got another Toolstop TV exclusive demo video for you to watch.
So, if you're a fan of Hitachi's tools, then the C18DSL circular saw needs your vote for Power Tool of the Year 2014, get voting now!
Ok, let's be honest; this isn't a "new for 2014" power tool. It's been about for a while, but we thought long and hard about this and wanted to give you guys the chance to vote for Metabo via one of their best selling and best love mitre saws.
Not only is it very well designed, from the needle bearings in the slide mechanism, the 305mm wide cuts it'll let you make, to the ease of use, the KGS216M is a favourite in workshop and job sites around the world. And while Metabo is at times best known for its epic grinders, this compound slide mitre saw shows the strenght in diversity the Germany company offers power tool users.
We're fans of Metabo's tools and we know many of you are, so this is your opportunity to show your love for them but voting now for the KGS216M!
Plus you can read more about the saw in our blog post below, and as always we've got an exclusive Toolstop TV video for you to watch, both of which are available via the buttons.
