Triton T1200BS Belt Sander - What's the Spec, Features and Benefits
Posted by Mark Hunter - October 25, 2016
With its 1200W motor and 3" belt, Triton's TA1200BS belt sander is easy to adjust and configure so that it's set up just the way you need it.
In this guide, we'll take you through the key specs and features, but first, watch our video demo video on Toolstop TV here.
At the side of the tool is a latch which, when released, allows you to quickly and easily swap out the 76 x 533mm sanding belt. And while you're sanding, the belt is controlled via the automatic belt tracking system.
However, you can manually control this by simply turning the knob on the left-hand side of the tool.
At the front of the machine is a large, rubberised bale handle. This is also adjustable, giving you the grip you need regardless of where you're using the sander.
The revolutions per minute of the TA1200BS is controlled via the variable speed dial, taking you from 200 to 450 meters per minute.
With the bale handle pushed all the way forward, the TB1200BS has a completely flat top profile. This allows it to be used as a benchtop sander. In the box you'll find two clamps which gives you the option of clamping it to a workbench. Attach the tool rest, and you're ready use the belt sander in it's inverted position, perfect for trimming and smoothing jobs in the workshop!
The sanding surface area is a large 76 x 150mm, yet with the smaller front roller, the TB1200BS allows you to work in tight or awkward spaces, especially as the belt runs completely flat with the side of the machine, meaning you can get right up to walls when you're sanding flooring, for example.
Any point of the tool where your hand will come into contact is covered in a rubberised overmoulding, and in addition to that, the power switch can be locked on, giving you the ability to move your grip around the tool while you sand, a definite plus in terms of comfort.
And finally, it has an integrated dust extraction port and comes supplied with a dust bag. However, it's perfect for hooking up to a professional class dust extractor or vacuum, such as the V-TUF Dustex M Dust Extractor / Vacuum, which is perfect for dealing with dust control, and also for cleaning up after you!
