World War Z...and Power Tools?

Glasgow's a strange, vibrant, unpredictable city at the best of times. However, all of that gets cranked up 110% whenever Plan B Entertainment is in town.
Brad Pitt's production company has set up office in our fair city these past couple of weeks and they've succeeded in turning sections of down-town Glasgow city centre into a Hollywood approximation of Philadelphia!
The purpose of this transformation is to shoot scenes for the 2012 movie World War Z. It's a post apocalyptic zombie movie, we're told, based on a novel by the same name.
Apparently Glasgow looks very much like Philadelphia and Plan B Entertainment reckoned what it cost to ship production over to Scotland they'd save in make-up costs; the running joke is that the Glasgow locals won't need much in order to look like zombies.
We've always got an eye out for power tools, though. And it's when you see your city centre transformed into a playground for Hollywood's A-list that you realise the amount of work, time and hard-bloomin'-effort the guys and girls in the prop department put in.
Rain or shine, they're out on the streets of Glasgow, putting up fake street signs, painting fake road markings, building fake stone planters (to cover the metal ones used in Glasgow's George Square).
Then, once the cameras are rolling, they drift back into the shadows, recharging both theirs and their power tool batteries, waiting to re-set the sets, all the while the stars in front of the camera get the plaudits and the praise.
So, on behalf of the power tool community, we salut the movie set builders! All photos used from this article, apart from the first image.
