Hitachi-C18DSL

Hitachi’s C18DSL 18v cordless circular
is a fanastic addition to anyone’s kit, especially if you’re already utilising their cordless tools, as you’ll learn below. We’ve put together 5 things you need to know about this cordless circular saw, and you can see it in action in our exclusive Toolstop TV video.

#1 – It has a Slim-Line Blade for Better Cutting Efficiency

The supplied 24 tooth TCT blade is only 1.6mm thick. Due to it’s thinness the saw can cut more efficiently, both in terms of speed and drain on the battery. So, more cuts per charge.

#2 – LED Spotlight for Accurate Cuts in Dark Areas

As it’s a cordless circular saw you’ll probably be working in areas of the jobsite that are poorly lit, away from the mains. The spotlight will illuminate your cutting line, helping you stay accurate.

#3 – It’s Compatible With 4Ah and 5Ah Hitachi Batteries

As it’s sold as a “naked unit“, or body-only (click here to learn more about the benefits of buying this type of cordless tool), so you’ll be able to use any 4Ah or 5Ah Hitachi batteries you already own. Ideal for anyone who needs a circular saw for occasional cuts and wants to keep the cost down.

#4 – It’s Very Safe

The C18DSL incorporates some great safety features which will protect you and itself from harm. For example, the motor has an electric brake. Take your finger off the motor’s trigger and the blade stops spinning immediately. It also includes Hitachi’s multi-plex protection circuit. This is an intelligent system built into the tool which prevents the saw from overloading. If the saw encounters too much resistance while you’re cutting, the battery will kill the power to the motor. When this happens, simply move the saw back in the cutting line, and start cutting again.

#5 – It’s Very Capable

The motor outputs 3400rpm, which combined with the TCT blade will give you cutting depths of up to 57mm at 0º and 40mm when it’s at the 45º bevel. And there’s no riving knife fitted which means you can quickly, safely and easily make clean plunge cuts.
