Our friends over at ToolGuyd have published an article on the difference between having a red laser or a green laser in your cross-line or 360º device. This has come off the back of DeWALT releasing two such lasers to their range.
The full article is here, but here are the highlights.
Mike wrote in, asking about the red vs. green laser aspect:
Dewalt has posted some new lasers on their web page; some “green” lasers, some red lasers.
What is the difference?
Which laser type is better?
What are the advantages?

So, to answer the question, whatisthe difference according to the guys at ToolGuyd?
Essentially, as is expected, it comes down to visibility. Green lasers, like the DCE089D1G are brighter and therefore have better visibility, especially when they’re used indoors. And because of that, they’re a bit more expensive.
Red lasers, like the DCE086NR are still great, though, particularly if you use them with a detector, in which case you’ll significantly increase the range and the visibility.
