Monument Tools can be traced back 5 generations of the Collier family. Now specialising in Plumbing, Roofing and Drainage it all started in 1880 when George Collier, a tool merchant opened a shop in Cornwall Road in Brixton, London. Another branch opened in King William St close to the ‘Monument’ to the Great Fire of London in 1666, selling lead dressers, plumbing and roofing tools. Export already played an important role and company branded moulding planes have been found in South Africa. During the war they made tools for the War Office, including wing compasses and engineers tools, sets of instrument screwdrivers and rifle sights. Now based in Surrey, Monument Tools have become one of the largest specialist tool companies in Europe, making small pipe cutters to manhole lifter, all manufactured in the UK.
