Bosch's GOP is a fabled member of the global multi-cutter family. Its evolution is well known, and it's great to see the tool continue to develop into a cordless workhorse. Click here to read our guide to buying multi-cutters.

The latest iteration of the GOP is the GOP 18 V-EC, and the big benefit to us all is the inclusion of a brushless motor.

Brushless power tools aren't just envogue for the sake of it. These tools typically offer longer runtime per battery charge, and thanks to the lack of moving parts, provide us with incredibly long lifetimes.

The GOP 18 V-EC is the first in the multi-cutter market to feature a brushless motor, and Bosch is understandably very proud of the achievement, as we saw at their launch event on 23rd October.

As already mentioned, runtime is a key benefit of ditching the brushes in a power tool motor, with Bosch stating 30% longer runtime when compared with Bosch tools powered by traditional DC motors.

And when you slap on the fantastic 4Ah CoolPack 18v battery, we can expect the GOP 18 V-EC to run and run and run.

Variable speed control is provided via the red wheel on the side, giving you great control over your cutting, grinding or sanding applications. And when it comes to applications, Bosch is still forging a strong path through the accessory market. The new accessories supplied with the GOP 18 V-EC, and available as after-market purchases, featured a colour-coding system to help you select the right accessory for the job you're doing.

The GOP 18 V-EC features Bosch's universal OIS (oscillating interfact system) meaning you can very quickly attach a new accessory, but the tools is also compatible with cutters, sanding disks, grinders, etc manufactured by FEIN, Makita and Milwaukee.

Fitting an accessory is purposefully simple and quick on the GOP 18 V-EC due to the SDS features; open the lever to release the accessory, slot in a new accessory into the OIS, then close the lever. You're good to go.

We were able to get our hands on the new GOP and shot this quick video for Toolstop TV, view it via this link or watch in our player below.
