Fein FMM350QSL Multimaster – 5 Reasons You Should Upgrade Now

Posted by Toolstop Katy on 10th Nov 2017

What Makes the Fein FMM350QSL a Fantastic Upgrade?

There’s no doubt that Fein really are masters at making oscillating multi-tools, and it would seem many regard the German firm as leading the way in terms of reliability and durability.

We’ve put together 5 reasons why you should upgrade to the exciting new FMM350QSL (click to buy).

We were also delighted to see the brand new member of the Multimaster family in action, and you can learn all about it via our exclusive Toolstop TV video:

#1 – the Fein FMM350QSL Benefits from a 350W Motor

Fein claims it’s the “number one oscillating power tool”, so you’ll be keen to know whether the company backs this claim up with spec and features to match.

As the model number suggests, a 350W motor is what drives this machine, which places it at the front end in power terms in the oscillating multi-tool market. It provides you with speeds up to 35% faster than the FMM250Q, which are controlled via the variable speed dial. This gives you a lot more control over your applications.

However, this speed is tachogenerated. In other words, the speed will be constant even under load. Again, Fein isn’t messing about with this tool, making it ideal for tough sawing applications, even in hard woods.

Fein has also geared down the motor to give you more torque.

And remember, with the right choice of cutting accessory, you’ll be able to cut wood that has nails in it, read more on that here.

#2 – It’s Quieter and Gentler

As you can see from our image above, the FMM350QSL includes a dampening system which counteracts the vibration generated from the motor while you cut or sand. The gearbox and the motor are thus separated from the housing of the machine; the part you hold. This, in turn, results in you experiencing 70% less vibration in like for like applications when compared with older Multimasters.

In practical terms, this means you can use the FMM350QSL for longer while remaining safe. And the comfort is extended to what Fein calls the “soft grip zone”, basically a tactic, ergonomic coating over the body of the tool where you’re hand/s are likely to be when you’re using it.

And even further than that, again for your comfort, Fein says they’ve engineered the motor is such a way within the housing of the FMM350Q that you get all that extra power, but the noise level has been reduced by around 50%.

This is a huge advantage as anyone who uses oscillating multi-tools knows that they can be noisy beggars.

#3 – It Features a 1.7º Oscillating Angle

The FMM350Q has been upgraded to 1.7º from the FMM250’s 1.6º, to give you even more grunt in cutting applications. However, it’s worth bearing in mind that the lower the angle of oscillating the more control you’ll have over the accessory you’ve fitted, particular important for very precise cutting or sanding applications, for example.

But factoring in the fine control over the motor’s speed, the FMM350Q is clearly aimed at the professional who knows his or her way around an oscillating multi-tool.

#4 – It’ll Take Your Existing Accessories

As with all of Fein’s Multimasters, the 8 star Quickin mounting system is present, meaning all your existing Fein accessories will slot in, as will loads from other manufacturers like Makita, Bosch and DeWALT.

#5 – It Comes As Part of a Fantastic Kit

The final reason to upgrade to the FMM350QSL, apart from all the reasons above, is that we’ve got it available in a robust carry-case, complete with all the accessories you’ll need to get you up and running. Click here tosee more, plus the best price on the market!
