Everbuild Silicones, Sealants and Caulk Range Rundown

Which Caulk Should you use for Which Job?

With so many options available when it comes to silicone, sealant and caulk, it can be a daunting task selecting the right one for a project. From acetoxys and acrylics to silicones and hybrids, each has its own unique application properties and advantages meaning it is essential to select the most appropriate product for the job.

Here we take a look at some of the most popular sealants within the Everbuild range at Toolstop, highlighting their main features and suggested uses:

EB25

Its not often you come across a product that can handle just about any job you throw it at, but EB25 is exactly that. Using cutting edge technology and a unique polymer blend, EB25 is a premium quality hybrid product and the ultimate sealant and adhesive. With 20% flexibility, EB25 can withstand a greater amount of movement than many other sealants and its incredible bond strength means it can hold a tremendous amount of weight. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, it will work on virtually any substrate including metal, wood, brick, concrete, tile, glass and much more, plus it can even be used under water.

Not only that, but EB25 is sanitary and food safe, resistant to mould, temperature extremes, chemicals, petrol and UV radiation and all while being environmentally friendly for a product of this type. Shop EB25 Silicone here.

Everflex 200 Contractors LMA Silicone

Acetoxy silicones cure by a reaction to moisture in the air, giving off an odour of Acetic Acid or vinegar and Everflex 200 Contractors LMA Silicone uses this technology to deliver a contractor’s grade silicone sealant designed for use in many areas on site. A great ‘all-rounder’ product, it is suitable for use both internally and externally and can be used for general weatherproofing, sanitary and gap-sealing applications on a multitude of substrates including glass, timber, aluminium, ceramics and laminates.

The anti-fungal compound contained within the product helps to prevent mould growth to the sealant so is ideal for use in areas which are subjected to high levels of humidity including bathrooms and kitchens. Not only can it be used as a sealant, but also as an adhesive for fixing PVCu trims, cladding and panels. Shop Everflex 200 Sealant here.

Everflex 335 Construction Silicone

Another use for acetoxy cure silicones is as a PVCu sealant which Everflex 335 Construction Silicone has been specially formulated for. The low modulus, permanently flexible sealant forms a weather tight, rubber-like seal around the PVCu once cured and contains an anti-fungal compound to prevent mould growth to the sealant. When working with all substrates it is important that the sealant doesn’t attract dust and particles, but this is especially true when working with glass and PVCu as it can affect the appearance of the finished article.

Everflex 335 Construction Silicone has a faster cure time than other low modulus sealants so has an extremely low dirt pick up ratio, ensuring work is completed to a high standard. Shop Everflex 335 Sealant here.

Fire Mate Sealant

Fire protection sealants have an important role to play should the unthinkable happen, helping to contain the fire and stop it spreading. Fire Mate Intumescent Acrylic Sealant is a product which will stand up to the test, swelling by more than 150% of its original size when exposed to temperatures in excess of 125°, preventing the passage of fire and smoke around a building.

The fire rating of a sealant is a measure of its ability to maintain its insulation and integrity in a joint when exposed to fire, and with a fire rating of up to 4 hours in certain joint configurations, Fire Mate provides the resistance needed. Shop Fire Mate Silicone here.

General Purpose Silicone

Not all jobs require a highly priced, premium product, with a simpler, all-rounder product being enough for some applications. Everbuild General Purpose Silicone is just that, a mid-modulus silicone sealant that adheres to most smooth and non-porous materials, contains an anti-fungal compound to prevent mould growth in areas of high humidity and forms a permanently flexible rubber seal. Whether sealing around baths, showers and sanitary ware in the bathroom or around worktops and laminates in kitchen areas, Everbuild General Purpose Silicone will do just the job.
