What is Bosch X-Lock?

Bosch X-Lock is an innovative system that allows you to make tool-less accessory changes with your angle grinder.

Faster accessory changes means greater productivity. You can expect up to 5x faster accessory changes with the X-Lock system compared to traditional threaded locknut mounting.

The name comes from the shape of an "X" that locks the accessories securely onto the tool. This new innovation also prevents the possibility of over and under tightening. With a simple click, your accessories are securely locked onto the machine.

Most X-Lock accessories are compatible with standard angle grinders with a bore of 22.23mm. However, X-Lock Angle Grinders will only work with X-Lock accessories. This means that you cannot use standard grinding discs with your X-Lock machine, as they do not have the X-LOCK interface.

X-Lock was invented by Bosch Professional, however more power tool manufacturers such as Makita are jumping on board and starting to introduce the concept to their accessories. Bosch aim to establish the X-Lock system as the new market standard in the future.

That being said, the X-Lock system is completely safe, featuring a patented mechanism that prevents the release of the disc during tool operation. Just make sure that the rpm rating of your grinding discs matches or exceeds the rpm of your tool.
