What are rivets?
A rivet is a mechanical fastener that upon installation, the end of the shaft expands to fasten objects in place. Rivets are ideal for supporting shear and tensile loads, as well as in watertight applications. The M12 BPRT will accept rivets from 2.4 - 4.8mm in diameter and will rivet in one stroke with a 20.32mm stroke length.

Lets compare it to the 18V version...
Milwaukee also has an 18V rivet gun, the M18 ONEFPRT. This model will fasten all blind rivets including aluminium, steel, stainless steel and copper from 4.8 - 7mm to give you a bigger range of applications to be completed. It has a huge 20,000N of pulling force.

So whilst the 18V version has a significantly larger pulling force and will pop much more rivets per battery charge, it all comes down to rivet size. The M12 model accepts smaller rivets whilst the M18 model accepts larger ones. This makes the M12 better for precise applications and the M18 for more industrial applications.
