Who invented the first power drill? Inventor Wilhelm Emil Fein in 1895. That was only one of his claims to fame. Earlier in history, after Scotsman Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone, Fein was heavily involved in the improvement of transmission. In 1885 Fein built the public telephone network of Barcelona and in 1892 his team made possible the first telegraphic opera broadcast, from Stuttgart Opera to the royal Villa Berg.
Not slow to recognise the potential of the new hand-operated power tool Fein made huge leaps forward to invent the machines we use today. In 1908, efforts focused on quickly improving the drill, with more power and less weight. The next power tool they concentrated on was the portable sanding machine. Then the electric pneumatic hammer with technology still in use today. They followed with electric handsaws, jigsaws and the oscillating cutting tool. The list goes on but in 150 years of invention or development Fein have achieved more than any other power tool company. Toolstop have a selection of Fein Multitools including the MultiMaster and MultiTalent in different voltages ready for despatch.
