The Trend C153X1/2TC TCT two flute worktop cutter is where we’ll start. While the name is a bit of a mouthful, we’ll explain what you’ll be getting when you add it to your basket.
This worktop router cutter is part of Trend’s “CraftPro” range, and it’s a monstrously huge range of router cutters! These cutters are perfect for general builders or joiners, who may be tasked with fitting kitchens on an occasional basis, and therefore don’t use a router every day.
But CraftPro cutters don’t skimp on quality.
The cutters feature PTFE coating which prevents the cutter sticking to the worktop while you cut. It also works against the build-up of heat which, along with resin collecting on the blade of the cutter, will reduce its lifetime.
They also benefit from Tungsten Carbide Tipped blades, more on this below.
What sort of applications will it handle for you?
According to Trend, a pretty big range including engraving, grooving, rebating and shallow mortising in MDF, hardwoods, softwoods, plywood, and chipboard.
The shank diameter is 1/2 inch and it’ll give you cut lengths of 2″ or 50mm.
Ideal for any kitchen fitter that has to make router cuts over and over is the availability of a 5 piece pack of CR/KFP/5 worktop cutters, which you can find here.
Like the CraftPro cutters, these also benefit from PTFE coating, explained above, and Tungsten Carbide Tipped (TCT) blades. Once again, these have been engineered to resist resin and heat build-up, and the TCT means that the cutter blades are highly ground, featuring micro-granular tungsten carbide tips which provide a very high-quality finish to your cut.
The shanks of the Trade Range of worktop cutters are extra long, meaning they’re aimed more at professional kitchen fitters; rather than having to make two passes on a piece of 40mm worktop, the Trade Range cutters will allow you to do so in one pass. Ideal for tradespeople that are routing worktop day after day.
Again we’ve stock Trend TR/KFP/1 pack of cutters, which you can find here.
Trend also makes some of the finest kitchen worktop jigs on the market, so our guide will now take you through a couple of the options available to you.
Jigs for routing worktops should be hard wearing and provide you with a multitude of functions. The KWJ700 fits the bill perfectly.
Made from a heard-wearing 12mm thick solid laminate, it will, according to Trend, take just 15 minutes to set up and cut both parts of your joint.

The “700” in its name means it will handle worktops up to 700mm in length, and as you can see below, it gives you tremendous functionality in terms of cuts and joints. And it cuts up to 40mm thick worktops with or without anti-drip postformed edge, with the pin holes being clearly marked by engraved points on the jig.
Like it’s smaller brother, the KWJ900 is a kitchen worktop jig that’s manufactured by Trend to very high spec, benefiting from the same hard wearing laminate. Being a “900” it’ll allow you work on pieces of worktop up to 900mm long, and features three open-ended bolt recesses (dog bone style) for 150mm bolts.
You’ll be able to cut up to 40mm thick worktops, making it once again perfect for the professional kitchen fitter. Click here to add it to your kit.
This is classed as an “all-in-one” jig, and as you can see belw, it’s perfect for cutting left hand and right-hand corners, 400mm radius peninsular joints, 45 degree end cuts with slight radius, 45 degree trade corner solutions for hob units, 100mm radius corners, 40mm radius corners, 35mm kitchen door holes and 3/4inch BSP hole for mixer taps.
As we’ve already said, we reckon Trend makes of the best router cutters and accessories for kitchen fitters. The engineers at Trend obsess over the details of their products as it’s important to them that you get the job done as quickly, safely and efficiently as possible.
